New maximum ceilings are proposed for events starting in April

The consultation period for the government’s latest covid-19 proposal expired on Friday. It is partly about preparing legislation so that the government can completely close shopping malls, restaurants, gyms and other indoor activities if the infection situation deteriorates further, and partly about making it possible for museums, theaters, sporting events and amusement parks start operating in an infectious manner.

Different maximum numbers according to the mode of infection

The rules to avoid congestion depend, among other things, on whether the activity takes place indoors or outdoors or with or without a seat.

The Swedish Public Health Agency (FHM) responded in the late afternoon that the proposals were approved.

For some proposals, FHM comes with special views. This applies, among other things, to the requirement of the number of participants. The authority proposes different maximum numbers for different arrangements based on infection status.

Three modes of infection: this applies

In the first step, very overloaded healthcare, it is proposed maximum 8 participants if the meeting or event is organized indoors, maximum 50 participants if the meeting or event is organized indoors and participants are assigned a seat, max 100 participants if the meeting or event is organized outdoors and max 150 athletes in an outdoor sports competition in the form of an exercise race or similar.

The corresponding figures for stage two – plateau phase at a relatively low level – are a maximum of 50, 300, 600 and 900, respectively.

When the society has reached the third step (few infected people and very few positive tests) all the roofs will be removed, FHM suggests that the changes will take effect on April 11.
