He’s close, close amongst many teams fighting for European places behind leader Malmö FF in the Allsvenskan.
Given that Häcken lost the league final to MFF earlier on Sunday, there was a chance of reaching second place in the table when Djurgården hosted IFK Norrköping in the evening.
“Beijing” took it.
For Djurgården, on the other hand, it happened a major defeat, after the team exited qualifying for the Europa League on Thursday when they lost 0-1 against Romanian Cluj. Last year’s Swedish champions now have five matches in a row without a win at the Allsvenskan.
– We didn’t do a good first half, we didn’t catch them and we didn’t create much either, so it was difficult, substitute Emir Kujović, responsible for Djurgården’s reduction goal, told Dplay.
Djurgården is now on the same scoreboard, 32, as Sirius and Hammarby. But the first two teams have one game less played.
The Stockholm derby that awaits between Djurgården and Hammarby on Sunday will also be a battle to catch up with the best teams in the table.
Norrköping now has the same number of points like Elfsborg, 36, eight years younger than the Malmö leader.
“Beijing” got off to a perfect start to the game, with a goal lead at four minutes and nine seconds.
Linus Wahlqvist’s shot did not seem particularly dangerous, the ball sliding under the hand of Djurgårds goalkeeper Per Kristian Bråtveit.
After a difficult period, IFK Norrköping have been working on their defensive game in recent weeks, and the guests controlled the first half despite Djurgården having the initiative for long periods in their quest for a draw.
With barely an hour to go, IFK Norrköping made a very nice 2-0, when Alexander Fransson caught up with Christoffer “Totte” Nyman who hit the ball.
In minute 78 he sat down Emir Kujovic the reduction to 1-2.
The scorer has not been allowed to start many games this year.
– It’s frustrating, of course. But I can’t influence it. For me it is important to continue training, she said.
Coaches Thomas Lagerlöf and Kim Bergstrand spoke to him about the matter a long time ago, Kujovic said.
– I’m completely honest when I say I don’t know why. They haven’t told me about that. They are based on what they think works best. I have read a little that they are not happy with me.
– I’m disappointed that they don’t allow me to play. But I am old enough and experienced to know that I can do better.
