Two weeks have passed since the missing officer Deniz Arda, 31, last sign of life.

But despite that, hope lives on among the applicants.

– We will never stop searching, says Therese Haugen to Missing Persons.

Some of the first snowflakes of the year fell from the sky over Tyresta National Park on Saturday. The sky was gray and the temperature did not exceed one degree.

If it had been a normal day in the well-visited nature area, only the most avid nature lovers would have ventured outside due to the severe weather. But this day was not just any day.

Around 350 people, since 07:00 on Saturday, have been involved in the search for Deniz Arda, 31, in the great national park.

It has been more than two weeks since the last sign of life from him.

“Huge area”

In principle, the only clue that can be found in the search is that he has written that he would make a long career in the area that is now being searched.

– The latest digital clues lead us here to the Tyresta National Park. It is a huge area. We look at an area that is 50 times 50 kilometers, says his best friend and colleague, Henrik Ehrenfeldt.

On Saturday, about 350 people participated in the search.

But no physical traces of Deniz Arda have been found, even though this is the second weekend where hundreds of volunteers, both private and military, are looking for him.

Huge support from colleagues

Deniz has been a professional soldier for ten years and thanks to his extensive network of contacts within the Armed Forces, many soldiers have chosen to participate in the search for him.

– I have not made a compilation, but soldiers from all over Sweden are here. We are here completely voluntarily and we are here as individuals, he says.

Deniz’s brother, Imren Arda, says he is touched by the support from the military and the public.

– It is moving and gratifying to see the great support. But of course it is sad and depressing to have to do this, says Imren Arda.

I hope to find it

The hope of meeting his younger brother again lives on.

– The best scenario is that we find him alive. The opposite is the worst. So there is something in between: that we cannot find it. So we cannot rule out that he is alive and then we can wait, he says.

Brother Imren Arda says he is touched by the support.

Imren does not believe that Deniz himself would choose to disappear.

– I judge it as if the probability that it had intentionally disappeared was low. In any case, he has planned to disappear on purpose, I don’t think so. I also don’t think it was intentional and unplanned, he says.

This week, the police decided to launch a criminal investigation into the kidnapping.

– I don’t think it’s a kidnapping. But I can’t rule it out, says Imren Arda.

Summons the public

On Sunday, Missing People chose to ask the public for help for the first time since the search began. So far, they have judged that the resources have been sufficient, but now they are asking people to come to Tyresta National Park and participate in the search.

What if Deniz still can’t be found after Sunday’s effort is still undecided. But Therese Haugen, who is the coordinator of Missing People, says the effort has no end date.

– We won’t stop looking for him, she says.
