The three main projects of the foundation are releasing small cod, improving the nutrient cycling of animal manure and creating living bays, according to a press release from Uppsala University.
In total, around SEK 150 million are invested and a large part of the money has been donated by Ann-Sofie Mattsson, who also founded Baltic Waters 2030.
– I have lived by the Baltic Sea all my life, now I want to do good when I have the opportunity and the interest. I see a clear advantage in a low-cost independent foundation that can focus on projects that really do well, Ann-Sofie Mattsson says in the press release.
Take out cod larvae: “fantastic opportunity”
The main question of the project is whether it is possible to produce and release cod larvae that survive to adult size and thus can contribute to the cod population in the Baltic Sea
