New corona restrictions await in Italy

Gyms and public restrooms can be completely closed, while bars and restaurants are forced to have shorter opening hours. The government is also expected to urge citizens not to travel too far from their homes.

These are measures that are likely to be waiting in Italy after the number of further crown falls soared again, according to the Reuters news agency.

On Saturday, another 19,644 confirmed cases were reported, a new record for a single day in the country. For the same day, 151 deaths were also found.

Authorities have reopened the temporary intensive care units that were built at the beginning of the year. Despite this, the Italian public health authority warned on Friday that pressure on healthcare was beginning to approach breaking point.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte promises to accelerate aid to companies that are having a hard time. But at the same time he warns that the next few weeks will be tough.

Nighttime curfews have already been introduced in various parts of the country, including in the capital region of Lazio and Lombardy, which was the epicenter of the first corona wave. Other regions are expected to be underway.

On Friday night, hundreds of protesters in Naples protested the Corona region’s coronary restrictions. They threw objects at the police and set fire to garbage cans. The demonstrations are the first of its kind in Italy since the corona pandemic began 8 months ago.

Italy has registered more than 500,000 cases of coronary heart disease and around 37,000 deaths.
