A car bomb killed at least 10 people and injured at least 15 others in the Afghan capital, Kabul. According to a security source, the bomb caused a powerful explosion that also damaged nearby buildings and cars.

Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian blames the terrorists and says women and children are among the dead. No group has yet taken over the act. According to Reuters, a politician, who survived, may have been the target of the attack.

The act is the latest in a series of deadly attacks that have hit the city in recent months, despite parallel peace talks between the government and Taliban extremists in Qatar.

In November, more than 30 students were killed when gunmen from the terrorist group IS attacked a university in Kabul. Between January and September, the attacks in the country killed more than 2,100 Afghan civilians, the UN says.
