Several of the leaders of Aftonbladet magazine “The Networks” are now in custody.
On Friday, the man who allegedly leads a gang in southern Stockholm was arrested. In the same case, the designated leaders of the Södertälje network are already suspects.
The drug cartel enlisted after French police cracked the encrypted Encrochat service.
In Aftonbladet’s “Networks” series, we talked about the gangs that rule the Stockholm underworld and the 676 designated members.
Several of the main characters included in the survey are deprived of liberty.
Two men who control each network are connected with the same goal. This is a major drug case based on information from the encrypted Encrochat service. The position was broken by the French authorities earlier this year.

On Friday, the leader of the May network was also arrested on suspicion of a serious drug crime.
“The base comes from Encrochat”
He is also detained in another case, for extortion and a felony firearms crime in central Sweden.
– In the case of drugs, the basis for what is alleged comes from information on Encrochat. The man who was arrested this morning came to the case after Swedish police found information on an encrypted phone. However, this has nothing to do with Encro, says chamber attorney Markus Hankkio.
Two other men are detained in the big drug case, one of whom was also singled out for belonging to the Södertälje network.
– Large amounts of drugs are handled between those involved. It’s kilos of different forms of drugs and where it’s been marketed across the country, Hankkio says.

It is not excluded that the case may grow. The investigation is awaiting further responses from France and the review of the encrypted service.
Nightclub mugged
The leaders of the two networks already know each other. Like the other two arrested in the drug case, the two leaders were in place when nightclub F12 was robbed last summer. The leader of the Södertälje network was recently sentenced to two months in prison for rioting after that incident.
In Encrochat, criminals have planned drug deals and murders more or less openly. In what is known as “Operation Robinson”, French police have shared information from the cracking service with colleagues in Europe. Since then, there have been several major arrests, at the end of October, the police stated that there were around 100 arrests in Sweden alone.

Hard hit to several bands
Several people belonging to Vårbynätverket are also detained on suspicion of a serious crime in another important case.
Among the many detainees is the designated leader who, among other things, is suspected of being classified as a murderer and extremely serious firearm crime.
Parts of that investigation are also based on information from Encrochat.
– This means a breakthrough for our hard work against criminal networks in the southern Stockholm police area. We have long had a strategic approach in which, among other things, we prioritize this network and current arrests are now the result of this, said Susanne Wikland, chief of serious crime police in South Stockholm in a press release. .
Last Friday, the police also stated that most of a layer of leadership belonging to a criminal network in northern Stockholm had all but been wiped out after the arrests of seven people last week.
Other networks have also been shaken considerably in the last year.
At the end of August, the leader of the Death Patrol, Mohamed Ali, 22, was sentenced to life in prison for the double murder in Copenhagen.
In Märsta, which has been marked by great unrest in recent times, prosecution for economic crimes against the designated leader is expected soon. According to the prosecutor in that case, the investigation is in its final stages.
