Neil Young is also now commenting on the demonstrations and the assault on the Capitol in Washington DC. Young, as before, is very critical of President Donald Trump, but at the same time feels sadness and “empathy for the people who have been so manipulated and have used their faith as a political weapon.”
Young claims that one protester cried because she was “attacked when all she was trying to do was make her voice heard.”
“She is one of thousands who have continued with the feeling of being persecuted for her opinions, with the feeling that American power doesn’t care,” writes Young, calling for respect rather than hatred.
Neil Young criticizes at the same time social media to “cripple our belief system” and post your own statement on your own website. “Through social media, problems are turned into hatred and used as psychological weapons,” the rock star writes, emphasizing that this is what President Trump is leaving behind.
