Neera Tanden will be the new president’s first loss of nomination. Joe Biden’s nominee budget director requested Tuesday night that the nomination be withdrawn.
“Unfortunately, it now seems clear that there is no way forward to be confirmed and I do not want to be a distraction from your other priorities,” Tanden wrote in a letter to Biden accepting his application.

The nomination was withdrawn after it became clear that Neera Tanden would find it very difficult to reach the 50 votes she needed in the Senate.
