Alexei Navalny was poisoned in August this year. After falling ill at an airport, critic of the Russian regime Alexei Navalny flew to Berlin for medical treatment.
With the help of a military laboratory, the German government was able to establish that the chemical Navalny was exposed to was a Novitjok group neurotoxin.
It is a poison that was developed in a secret Soviet laboratory in the 1970s. It is the same substance that was used against the defected Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his 2018 daughter at British Salisbury.
He revealed the plot through a fake phone call.
A joint investigation by CNN and Bellingcat revealed that a Russian “poisonous patrol” had been following opposition leader Alexei Navalny for a long time.
After the investigation, Navalny himself began contacting the suspects. After repeatedly putting the phone to his ear, he decided to introduce himself as a representative of the Russian Security Council. Whereupon he gets answers to his questions about the attempted murder of himself.
Konstantin Kudryavtsev, one of the officers, explains in detail how the assassination attempt took place and that the nerve agent Novitjok was placed in Navalny’s clothing.
Navalny’s move has now had consequences. According to AFP, Russia has opened an investigation against him.
