MP: Sweden must act after the Lesbos fire

Thousands of people are left homeless after the fire in the Moria refugee camp on Lesbos.

Germany has said that the country will receive up to 1,500 children from the camp and, at the same time, asked other EU countries to also receive.

Sweden has not yet responded to the call. The decision is not of the government, but of the Swedish Migration Agency, the Ministry of Justice greets SVT Nyheter.

Mp: It must be supportive

According to Annika Hirvonen, spokesperson for the Green Party’s migration policy, the Swedish Migration Agency should speed up the process.

– Sweden should now turn every stone to help people who for a long time lived in terrible conditions in the countryside and who have now lost their only security, says in SVT Morgonstudion.

One way, according to Annika Hirvonen, is to allow affected refugees with relatives in Sweden to come here. It is currently unclear how many there may be.

– Here, the whole EU must show solidarity and help. We can, as I understand it, very quickly, for example, receive people with relatives in Sweden, he says.
