After a meeting of several hours in the parliamentary group of the Radical Left, Morten Østergaard announced that he would leave his post.

The event that constitutes the basis of the exit occurred ten years ago. A couple of weeks ago, Lotte Rod spoke about the rape, but then did not reveal the name of the perpetrator, writes Politiken.

– I have removed my hands from my thigh and I can mention several examples of inappropriate touches, he said.

Rod later said that he had submitted a name to the party board.

Morten Østergaard admitted on Wednesday it was he who put his hand on the thigh of his party partner, says Politiken.

– I have betrayed the trust of my group, my party and therefore also the public, because I did not have the courage to admit that it was not enough, that I apologized to Lotte and was open to it being me, says Morten Østergaard and continues :

– Therefore, I cannot continue with credibility as a political leader of the Radical Left.

Morten Østergaard claims, however, that he was not expelled by the party, but that it is his own decision to resign.

Lotte Rod confirms on Twitter that Østergaard has apologized.

“Morten has apologized to me and I have accepted it. The problem is no longer what happened, it is the management. I’m sorry it ended like this because I like Morten. The important thing for me is that we achieve a cultural change,” he writes.

Lately A great debate has broken out in Denmark, three years after the movement spread to the rest of the world. Among other things, more than 300 women have written a petition against sexism in Danish politics, which was published on the front page of the Politiken newspaper.

Sofie Carsten Nielsen succeeds Østergaard as party leader.
