More than 50 million cases of covid-19 worldwide

Globally, the virus has claimed more than 1.2 million lives. The country most affected in terms of deaths is the United States, with more than 237,000 deaths.

The virus has taken over Europe again, with 12.6 million cases and more than 300,000 deaths. Under the new restrictions in Greece, for example, people can only leave their homes after obtaining a permit through a phone call. Restrictions have already been tightened in Italy, France, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany, among others.

Europe most affected by the pandemic

After Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean are hit hard, with 11.6 million confirmed cases and more than 411,000 deaths.

October was the worst month of the pandemic so far, according to Reuters figures. In just 32 days, the number of confirmed cases increased from 30 million to 40 million, and just 21 days later, the number surpassed 50 million.

The United States became the first country in the world to report more than 100,000 cases in one day, more than 130,000 cases have been reported since Sunday.
