150 to 200 people have been evacuated and several have been taken to hospital.

– The landslide has occurred in a residential area, and there is the case of houses affected by the landslide. All rescue services are in place and we are working to get an overview and evacuate residents, says Kjetil Ringseth in the police.

He said that it cannot be ruled out that people are reported missing. There have been several races after the police arrived at the scene.

Oslo University Hospital (OUS) and Ahus Hospital have gone into red alert, which means additional staff have been called in.

Both the National Guard and Civil Defense have been called to the area and geologists from the Norwegian Water and Power Authority (NVE) are on their way there and will assess when it is safe to enter the area during the landslide.

– The landslide in Gjerdrum is a big and serious disaster, says municipal president Anders Østensen (Labor Party) to Romerikes Blad and adds that the municipality has established a crisis staff.

Norwegian Minister of Justice Monica Mæland follows the situation and receives regular updates on developments, writes NRK.
