On Wednesday of next week, incoming President Joe Biden will be installed. Now there is massive work being done to increase security before the ceremony.
“We are taking a closer look at people who might be planning to repeat the kind of violence we saw last week,” FBI Director Christopher Wray told Reuters.
“I’ll find you”
Large areas around the White House will be closed and more than 20,000 troops are expected to be in Washington DC on January 20, US media report.
Subway stations will be closed in the capital and several US airlines announced Thursday that they will prevent travelers flying into and around Washington DC airports from searching weapons.
– We have already identified more than 200 suspects since January 6 alone. So we know who you are, if you’re there, and FBI agents will find you, Christopher Wray said during a pre-installation security briefing.
More than 100 people have been arrested by the FBI on suspicion of being involved in the January 6 storm in Congress.
Pence: secure installation
On Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence made his first public appearance since the takeover of Congress, when he participated in a special rally on security planning before January 20.
“We will ensure that there is a secure installation of current President Joe Biden and current Vice President Kamala Harris,” Mike Pence said according to Reuters.
