Umeå was hit by several floods on Saturday. Heavy rains have caused a sharp rise in the water level in the Tvärån and other waterways. And now more rain is coming.
Low pressure slowly pulls north. Early Sunday morning, it is expected to be over the Umeå area.
– It looks like it will reach ten millimeters during the day, says Jesper Blomster, a meteorologist at SMHI.
On Saturday afternoon, the situation began to stabilize in the affected areas of the municipality and water levels began to drop.
Tvärån is expected to drop to a more normal level during the afternoon and evening.
– It is not good if it rains more, but it depends on how much it comes, says Per Hilmersson, manager of street operations in Umeå.
He says there is a state of readiness throughout the day if the water levels start to rise again.
– We have bombs that are left overnight. If it starts to increase, we start them immediately.
