Facebook reports that 9.6 million hate posts have been removed from the platform during the first quarter of the year, according to Reuters news agency. This compares to 5.7 million separate hate posts in the last three months of last year.
Additionally, 4.7 million posts that are estimated to come from hate organizations have been removed, compared to 1.6 million in the last quarter of 2019.
Facebook explains the increase in technological improvements that have facilitated the automatic review of text and images.
The social media giant claims that around 50 million posts linked to the crown pandemic have been tagged with warnings.
– We have a feeling these warning labels work well. Ninety-five percent of the time someone views content with a warning, they don’t click, says company CEO Mark Zuckerberg, according to Reuters.
