Several million crowns in fines threaten Malmö because the city still locks people with disabilities in an LSS house, Sydsvenskan reports.
In December, the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate (Ivo) denounced police politicians from the Malmö functional support committee for illegal deprivation of liberty or misconduct.
In good order, Ivo is now demanding the immediate cessation of the blockade and illegal detention of residents, video surveillance of residents with cameras, blocking of personal belongings, and restriction of residents’ access to food.
If the unauthorized enforcement measures are not corrected by April 6, the city of Malmö risks penalties of SEK 3 million.
According to Jon Klüft, unit manager in the LSS housing department in the Malmö functional support administration, an urgent change is taking place.
– This summer, there were so many cameras in the business. There were many more protective measures. “We have worked very actively to change the business, but we are not really in port,” he tells Sydsvenskan.
