Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, has always dreamed of driving in Formula 1. On Friday, the dream came true when the 21-year-old had the opportunity to sit in one of the Alfa Romeo cars in relationship with the Eifel Grand Prix.
During the first training session of the weekend, Schumacher would have the opportunity in the car that Antonio Giovinazzi drives daily. Callum Ilott, who along with Schumacher belongs to the Ferrari youth academy, would also have the opportunity in a Haas car.
However, those plans went awry, when the organizers an hour after the session started gave the message that the training had been canceled.
The main reason for this was the fog surrounding the runway, which in turn caused the ambulance helicopter to be unable to take off and therefore safety was not considered sufficient.
– How sad to be able to do that in this race. He really deserves this test, he has had an incredibly good season in Formula 2 and is rumored to be taking Giovinazzi’s place in “Alfa” next season, says expert commentator Rickard Rydell at V Sport Motor.

Mick Schumacher in the management of the championship
Schumacher and Ilott will not have a chance to drive another practice this weekend as regular drivers must have access to their cars in order to prepare for qualifying and races.
Schumacher drives every day in Formula 2, where he currently leads the championship with four races to go, 22 points ahead of runner-up Ilott.
He was greeted this weekend by Sebastian Vettel, who is close friends with Father Michael.
– Michael is my idol and of course we all wish he could be here this weekend and see his son. That’s the sad thing, your son really deserves it. It’s surprising that Mick has this opportunity and I really hope he gets a spot for the entire season next year, not just a training session, he told Sky Sports.
