Covid-19 has really hit Lunds BK.

Now you are forced to leave against Malmö FF in the Swedish cup.

Therefore, the Allsvenskan champion team is ready for group play this spring, without having to play in round 1.

The qualifying match against MFF should have been played last Wednesday, but it was brought forward a week since Lund was hit by covid-19 in the players squad. Only five players from the Division 1 club have been saved.

“Among the worst I’ve seen”

On Saturday, the team was finally able to play the match again when they beat Lindome 2-1.

But it took its toll.

– It is one of the worst fatigue I’ve seen, says club coach Bosse Cronqvist.

The win against Lindome means that Lund is ready for a negative qualification against Karlslund on Thursday and Sunday. But Cronqvist says that several players were really knocked out after the game. Then, pressing in the match against the MFF, which would have been played on Wednesday, is impossible.

– We have to think about the health of the players. Then we have to leave the game against Malmö and focus on the playoffs, says Cronqvist.

“Not even when we are healthy”

Entering the cup match against the MFF at the end of December was not possible because MFF must allow its players to go on vacation on a certain date after the Allsvenskan ends, which Sydsvenskan previously reported on.

Doesn’t it bother you that you can’t move anymore?

– We are not. You can still see the positive. So far there is no one who has suffered much from shit. I mean, a soccer game is the little thing in this. And we can’t play four games in a week, even when we’re healthy, says Cronqvist.
