After the most eventful race in many years, Yle Sport’s expert is the fire and flames of Fredrik af Petersen. At the same time, he notes that Lewis Hamilton continues to maneuver Valtteri Bottas when necessary.
Can we remove the epithet “boring Formula 1”? The last two races have featured rarely seen drama and Yle Sport F1 expert Fredrik af Petersen laughs when asked.
He has seen many motorsports in his day, but few races beat the Tuscan GP at Mugello.
– Wow, that was very exciting. You can’t complain about Formula 1 now, even if it was another double win for Mercedes today.
– It’s been a long time since you’ve seen such a messy and dramatic career. Behind Mercedes’ double there were many positive things as well.
Despite everything that happened, he was still an incredibly well-known winner. Soon Lewis Hamilton will be the most victorious F1 driver of all time. Hamilton has as many as 90 GP wins, one win behind icon Michael Schumacher.
Af Petersens claims that Hamilton did most of the things right.
– I don’t want to be shit against Valtteri Bottas, but sometimes it seems like Lewis is a bit smarter when it really comes to competition situations.
Bottas failed in the last outing
Sunday’s race was marked by restarts. There were a total of three. Bottas started from the second frame and took the lead immediately, but on the second restart, then from the “gridden”, Hamilton took first place.
– He was very smart. Lewis turned right behind Valtteri, took advantage of the air suction and was able to drive again into the first corner. Valtteri had the same opportunity on the third and final restart, but didn’t take it.
The first reboot was carried out with a quick boot and then Bottas stayed away. Behind the Finn was very small and four cars stopped. Romain Grosjean was angry and criticized Bottas, but af Petersens does not think the Finn did anything wrong.
– Valtteri has the right to decide the speed and I don’t think he drove too slow. I imagine those further back thought Valtteri had crossed the starting line. They saw that the lamp was green, gassed and then there was a chain reaction and several drove each other.
“A pure insult”
After the sixth win of the season, Hamilton has tied a firm grip on another World Cup title. The distance to Bottas is up to 55 points.

Af Petersens thinks it doesn’t help that the stable order is that Bottas can’t use extra power in the engine when driving behind his stablemate.
– Today you received a new instruction that you cannot use that button. It’s a shame and in part it takes away your chance to run the fastest lap, in part to catch up with Lewis.
Is Bottas too often a team player?
– Well, that’s why he has new contracts. He is a loyal team player. The stable trainer has said that he is a perfect partner, and I think it is a pure insult.
– If you are a wingman, it means that you protect the leader and cannot drive again.
The punishment motivated Räikkönen
At Sunday’s GP, Kimi Räikkönen collected her first World Cup points of the season. Eight drivers interrupted, Räikkönen managed to keep the car intact and finished ninth.
The last laps were a fight to save the points. Räikkönen received a time penalty, and after that message, af Petersens thinks we get to see old beats.
– The punishment became an extra motivation. It was the old racing driver Kimi.

Räikkönen sat between the two Ferrari drivers. The classic Italian stable completed its 1000th run and represented a new blow to the belly.
– Disaster. Embarrassing. How many negative words should I list? It is absolutely incredible. Ferrari is like a scared dog that crawls home with its tail between its legs after these two races at home. You want to disappear as quickly as possible.
Ferrari’s problem was the usual one. The engine power just wasn’t enough.
– The proud horse has been changed by a snail in images on social networks. That says everything.
– Is it a pity for them? I do not think so. They have a budget to build a winning car and hire the best mechanics and engineers, but many have left. The stable manager has received a lot of criticism and is not a psychologist when it comes to leading the stable, the drivers, etc.
Ferrari’s cancer threatens to continue in two weeks. Then the Formula 1 World Cup series continues with the Russian GP in Sochi.
