From ten to eight on the night of the summer solstice, the police received an alarm about a shooting in Älvsjö, in the south of Stockholm. A seriously injured man was found, who later died in hospital.

The man, who was in his 30s, had been released just days earlier after being arrested for a felony drug offense in a sprawling case involving multiple suspects.

The man in question has clear connections to the Östberganätverket. He had previously been convicted of, among other things, violent resistance, assault and firearms offenses, but has never been punished by imprisonment. At the time of his death, a drug-related felony was still suspected.

He worked at the burned down McDonald’s restaurant

After the shooting, the police attacked the Östberg network. According to information from Expressen, an internal conflict was investigated as a precedent for the murder on St. John’s Day. Three people have been arrested but released.

One of them remains a suspect, but is so young that he is staying in a youth home rather than being detained pending a court decision.

– We will see if it comes to trial but we are working on it, says Chamber Prosecutor Daniel Jonsson.

According to information from Expressen, the murdered man had worked at the McDonald’s restaurant in Årsta, which caught fire on Friday night. He had a managerial role in the restaurant.

According to a relative of the man, he stopped working at McDonald’s 2018.

“Then we look at it, of course”

Now the police announce that they suspect that the fire started; According to press spokesman Per Fahlström, an investigation into the fire is underway. There are currently no prosecutors involved.

District Attorney Daniel Jonsson, who is leading the investigation of the mid-summer murder, says of the fire:

– I have no information that they would go together, but that is not my research either. If information comes up, we will of course examine it.

The investigation of the drug case where the murder victim was suspected continues. The man in question was removed from the investigation after his death, but chamber prosecutor Daniel Insulander announced at the same time that “Otherwise, he is expected to be prosecuted against other alleged sellers during the second half of September or early October.”

Expressen has contacted McDonald’s for comment.
