Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the last F1 race of the season, which was decided in Abu Dhabi. The 23-year-old started on pole position and took a clear victory over runner-up Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas. His second win of the season, his first coming at Silverstone in the UK in early August and his 10th overall.
– It was a lot of fun today. We did everything right. We had a very strong race, says Verstappen on Viaplay’s post-race broadcast.
But something big celebration will not be.
– I will enjoy getting on the podium, then I will enjoy going home.
The already clear world champion Lewis Hamilton finished third. The Briton missed last week’s competition after becoming infected with the coronavirus and was notably affected by being ill.
– It was a very tough race for me. I have felt strong and alert all season, but not today. The body doesn’t feel good, says Hamilton.
It was already clear that Mercedes will win the Designers’ World Cup and that Red Bull will be second. But after Sunday’s results, it was also clear that McLaren pinches third place ahead of Racing Point.
