Martin Olsson is detained from the national team after crown outbreak

Martin Olsson, 32, was selected to return to the Swedish national team in the Nations League matches against France and Portugal.

Now, however, the Swedish Football Association announces that the management of the national team will withdraw Olsson’s call due to the corona infection in his club’s team, Helsingborg.

“Faced with the risk of contagion, the team’s management has decided to recall Martin Olsson’s selection for the collection and for the Nations League matches against France and Portugal.”the union writes in a press release.

– It is a big difference to play a match at the Allsvenskan outdoors for two hours compared to being in a “national team bubble” for ten days, says national team doctor Anders Valentin.

The captain of the national team, Janne Andersson, also comments on the decision.

– I spoke to Martin tonight. Both he and I think it’s very sad, but he completely understands the decision, says Andersson.

The Swedish Football Association also announces that no replacement will be called for Martin Olsson.
