Marcus Johansson (h) is said to have played his last game at Buffalo.

Marcus Johansson, 29, can pack.

The NHL Swede has been traded from the Buffalo Sabers to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Eric Staal.

It was just one season in Buffalo for Marcus Johansson. The former Färjestad player scored 30 points (9 + 21) in 60 games last season, but can now continue his career at the Minnesota Wild.

Buffalo triples the Swedish striker in exchange for veteran Eric Staal.

Won the Stanley Cup

The 35-year-old Staal has a long and solid hockey career with more than 1,000 games and a Stanley Cup title on the merit list. Staal also won gold at the Olympics and the World Cup. Last season, there were 47 points (19 + 28) in 66 games.

Both Staal’s contracts (earning $ 3.25 million) and Johansson’s ($ 4.5 million) expire after next season.

Johansson has previously played for the New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals in the NHL.

Triss on FBK coupling

This is the second day in a row that Minnesota has made headlines in Sweden. Yesterday Hill Jonas Brodin, 27, secured himself with a new seven-year contract worth 370 million SEK. Swedes Joel Eriksson Ek, 23, and Victor Rask, 27, also play for the club.

Both Eriksson Ek and Brodin have, like Johansson, a past in Färjestad.
