William Poromaa receives recognized support for the Tour de Ski.

His new mentor and sponsor is none other than Marcus Hellner.

– It’s so damn powerful. He’s been my idol since I was little, William Poromaa tells Expressen.

William Poromaa, 20, is off to an impressive start to the ski season. After New Years, the pace changes when he makes his Tour de Ski debut. But Poromaa will do it with a well-known mentor and sponsor by his side.

Earlier this year, Poromaa got a call from Marcus Hellner. It’s now clear that the former long-distance star will take a spot, or two, on the 20-year-old squad, Expressen says.

The sponsorship refers to the clothing collection that Hellner has designed together with Outnorth. Poromaa will be the main figure of the collection.

– It feels really fun to now have William as an ambassador for this, to be involved and support him a bit, says Marcus Hellner.

“You can call whenever you want”

Hellner is the only Swede to have achieved a full podium finish in the Tour de Ski on the men’s side, when he finished second in 2012, and has many years of experience on the circuit.

– I am very grateful. Marcus has a lot to share, so it’s been good talking to him and getting some advice, says Poromaa.

Hellner hopes to contribute during the tour, but doesn’t want to divert attention from Poromaa’s efforts either.

– William can call whenever he wants! If nothing else, we are usually heard at mass after the races. I believe a lot in William. He has good technology, manages races wisely from a young age. It will be very exciting to see how far you can go, he tells Expressen.
