The Buenos Aires Police are investigating the doctor who treated Diego Maradona during his last days of life for crimes. On Sunday morning the house was searched at the doctor’s home and at his clinic, reports the Argentine newspaper Clarín.
Diego Maradona has received worldwide acclaim following the news of his passing. Argentine police now suspect that his doctor may have committed a crime.
The raids were carried out first thing in the morning and came after the testimonies of Diego Maradona’s three daughters, who made the police take a closer look at the drugs that have been prescribed for the footballer in recent months. According to Clarín, the police are looking, among other things, for medical records.
At present, the preliminary examination refers to something that can be equated with causing the death of another person, since the doctor is suspected of negligence. The doctor must be questioned on Sunday or Monday.
Diego Maradona died on Wednesday, at the age of 60, after a heart attack. Just a few weeks earlier, he had undergone surgery for a blood clot in his brain.
His former doctor Alfredo Cahe has publicly questioned why Maradona was discharged so soon after the operation and why there was no doctor in the house when he died.
– Maradona died strangely. There should be a permanent doctor in Diego’s house, Cahe tells Clarín.
Alfredo Cahe was Maradona’s doctor when the former footballer took an overdose of cocaine in early 2000. Cahe was the one who recommended Maradona seek help at a treatment center in Cuba, where he stayed for four years.
