During the night of Saturday, the police received several calls about an alleged drunk driver on the outskirts of Piteå. Callers described the trip as “unstable.” The police went on the hunt and were able to arrest him in Piteå.
But not without drama. After trying to get away from the police, a ten-minute car chase began, ending only after the police laid down a carpet of nails.
– A couple of kilometers after he ran over the spike mat, his speed slowed and he could be pulled, says Michael Saveman of the Norrbotten police.
Resisted – threatened the police
According to the police, the man was really drunk and objected to the arrest. It is said that he resisted and threatened the police. The man was so drunk that he had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver, who is already known to the police for similar crimes.
– He is now suspected of drunk driving, aggravated illegal driving, threats against an official and violent resistance, Saveman says.
On Saturday awaits the interrogation. The police will keep the man’s car in custody for 24 hours.
