At 12.30pm on Saturday, the police received an alarm that a man had been stabbed in the stomach. The man was found outside the Tax Office in Angered square.
– Several patrol cars and an ambulance went to the scene there, and he was bleeding badly when we arrived, Fredrik Svedemyr, Police Region West press spokesman told SVT News.
Have the police known the injured person before?
– No idea, I don’t even have a social security number at the moment.
Wanted by helicopter and dog patrol
According to the police, contact could be made with the man cut with a knife in connection with his transfer to hospital by ambulance.
At 1 p.m., the police had started searching for one or more perpetrators. Helicopters were initially used in the search operation.
– We continue to search the site and work on the information we receive on an ongoing basis. We are there with various resources, including a dog patrol, says Fredrik Svedemyr at 2.30pm.
So far no person has been arrested on suspicion of any crime.
According to police, witnesses have been seen leaving Angereds Torg in connection with the alleged knife cut.
– There are a handful of people. But it’s unclear what connection people have to the event.
