A man was seriously injured in a fire in an apartment in Djursholm, north of Stockholm.

Police suspect arson.

– We have found a seriously injured person who is taken to the hospital by ambulance, says Ola Österling, press spokesman for the police.

Police received an alarm about the fire shortly after 7:30 a.m. Thursday and shortly afterwards launched an investigation into the fire. No one has been arrested.

TT: Why do you suspect arson?

– I can’t answer that, but arson is an intentional crime, so the police at the scene suspect that someone deliberately set the fire, Österling says.

There are several apartments in the house, but it should only have burned in the apartment where the man lived, at eight in the morning there was no risk of spreading to other houses.

– The rescue service has been there and has shut down and thrown, among other things, a sofa from the apartment. It appears to be the most devastated by fire, Österling says.

The apartment is cordoned off pending a forensic investigation.
