The incident occurred in downtown Gislaved around midnight on Saturday night. Outside a fight broke out and the now deceased man is said to have been beaten with a machete. Then the perpetrators fled the scene.
The three detainees, all in their twenties, are also suspected of attempted murder of another man who suffered minor injuries during the fight.
– Police arrived at the scene and found two men, a man (seriously injured) in his 25s and a man in his 20s who was slightly injured, Angelica Israelsson Silfver, a police press spokesperson, told TT.
The man seriously injuredn was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but his life could not be saved.
Two of the suspects were arrested shortly after the event in connection with the scene. Neither they nor the deceased are in the police crime register.
– We can say that this is not in any way a gang conflict, but for some reason this dispute has arisen and has had these catastrophic consequences, says Håkan Boberg, area manager of the local police in Gislaved.
– We need more time to get a good idea of the motives and reasons why it happened.
Forensic scientists have been on the scene and conducted an investigation at the crime scene.
