The remains were found by people walking in a park in Pankow on November 8. Forensic analysis showed that the dead man was a 44-year-old man, named Stefan T by the police, who disappeared in Berlin in September.

A 41-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and on Friday, prosecutors said they were investigating a “sexual murder with a suspected cannibal background.”

“Based on the bones found, which were completely clean of meat, and other evidence, we strongly suspect that Stefan T. was the victim of a cannibal,” a police officer told Bild newspaper.

According to the newspaper, the suspect is a high school teacher.

According to the media, the police, among other things, found forensic medical clues that led to the suspect, but also discovered that the two men decided to meet through a chat forum.

The police also, based on the traces on the victim’s mobile phone, managed to locate a taxi driver who took him to the suspect’s house.

Tools and chemicals that may have been used in the crime, as well as traces of blood, have been found in the home, says prosecutor Martin Steltner.

It also claims that the suspect searched online for information about cannibalism.
