The 75-year-old woman was found dead in her home on the night of December 13 last year by home service and the police launched an investigation.
– He had injuries that made him suspect that it was a murder. They did the autopsy today and the definitive message is that the death was caused by someone else, said Sten-Rune Timmersjö, then head of the police department for serious crimes in Fyrbodal.
On Tuesday, police announced that a man in his 50s had been arrested and later arrested on suspicion of murdering the woman.
He was arrested at lunchtime on Monday.
It is not clear if there is any connection between the victim and the suspect and the police also have no information on the motive at this stage of the investigation.
300 interrogations have been conducted in the investigation
In a press release, the police write that they have made an extensive reconnaissance effort and conducted around 300 interrogations.
The investigation continues Tuesday.
– Today we are going to have a longer interrogation with him in the afternoon. There will be ongoing technical research in a couple of places that are interesting, says Sten-Rune Timmersjö.
Sten-Rune Timmersjö does not want to comment on what led to the man’s arrest, or how long he has been interested in the investigation.
– I do not want to enter how long it is, but in any case a few days, he says.
