A man in his 40s was arrested, suspected of starting the fire that destroyed a house in central Östersund overnight until Wednesday, local media reported. The house was completely destroyed by the fire.
The man was arrested Wednesday, first suspected of attempted fraud against a hotel in Östersund. During questioning by the police, the man admitted that he, too, was behind the fire. Police still do not want to reveal the motive.
– You think you have reasons for your actions, which I cannot say now, says Stephanie Siefert, who investigates the police at the crime scene in Östersund to Östersunds-Posten.
The man is known to the police and has previously been registered in Östersund, but no longer has any connection to the city.
– He himself says it is a coincidence that he is in Östersund. But have a plan to commit a crime. Your goal is to be stopped. And according to her own statement, she wants to incur as many prosecutions as possible, Stephanie Siefert tells ÖP.
