The fire in the Tesla parking lot started shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday night.

Seven cars in an area of more than 300 square meters were on fire when the rescue service arrived.

– It’s hard for me to see a natural cause, says rescue leader Magnus Köhlin.

The alarm sounded at 01:06 and just over an hour later the rescue service was on site to extinguish.

– There is a strong development of smoke, said Patrik Svensson of SOS Alarm.

The fire caused heavy smoke an hour after the alarm.

The fire caused heavy smoke an hour after the alarm.

Burning cars were in the parking lot outside the Tesla parking lot and service facility on Boplatsgatan in Fosie, south Malmö.

Rescue leader Magnus Köhlin describes what firefighters found upon arrival.

– There was a fire in seven cars in different places in an area of 300 to 400 square meters.

The extinction was first focused on the cars closest to the building to avoid spreading there. In the second step, the fire was also extinguished in the remaining cars.

Seven cars in an area of 300 to 400 square meters caught fire.

Magnus Köhlin knew beforehand that extinction would take time.

– We must be careful when it comes to fires in electric cars with car batteries. We have had a restrictive attitude and we have also thought about the smoke and not inhaling it. You never know if you will rush to use the battery. It will take a long time and require a lot of water.

Aftonbladet is looking for the police, but the rescue leader’s assessment is that the fires did not occur naturally.

– I find it difficult to see a natural cause, but the police must affirm that, says Magnus Köhlin.

A VMA, an important message to the public, was sent to the residents of the area at 0230 hours. They were told to go inside to avoid toxic smoke.

Half an hour later, the warning was lifted and the fires were put out.

– But there is still smoke from car accidents, said freelance photographer Mikael Nilsson shortly after 03.
