Malmö FF has already secured the gold of the Swedish Championship in 2020, but Skåneklubben still has matches this season. On Wednesday, November 25, a cup match with Lunds BK was scheduled to be played in the Swedish Cup, but just over a week ago Lunds BK postponed the match after a Covid-19 drop in the squad. The new date was Wednesday, December 2.
This weekend, LBK defeated Lindome 2-1 and therefore has a chance to save a new contract on the south court as the team now has to qualify. A match that collides with the cup match with Malmö FF and thus forces LBK to leave WO.
– We have discussed it very carefully within the association. Malmö got involved and moved once after our big crown bud break. Now we went to the playoffs and they are scheduled for Thursday and Sunday. So we won’t be able to play a cup match against the MFF on Wednesday and then play a qualifying match on Thursday. We do not have those conditions. And then it is not possible to advance further because Malmö FF has a plan for its organization but also due to the lottery rules where the matches must have been played before a certain date.
On their website, MFF announces that they will be awarded a 3-0 victory following a decision by the Swedish Football Association. In the last round of the Allsvenskan, Malmö FF will face Östersunds FK.
