MALMÖ / STOCKHOLM. End of series.
Then Malmö FF ran over Häcken.
And make a golden impression at the Allsvenskan.
For league-leading Malmö FF, it came loose in a double sense. After four straight 1-1 matches against Häcken and four straight Allsvenskan matches without a win, MFF now won with a convincing 3-0 against Hisingslaget.
– Malmö is the only team that was not fired for three months. Perhaps now we will see the effect of that, says Häcken coach Andreas Alm and adds.
– That was a joke. We would have done the same if we had the resources. So there is also indirect praise for Malmö for what they have built.
In the league final, Malmö broke the deadlock early. In the sixth minute, Isaac Kiese Thelin, very well protected, won the ball at the center line, on the other side, Ola Toivonen came running relatively alone. Kiese Thelin found him with a long ball, and in free position Toivonen was safe and made it 1-0 with his left. The forward’s third goal of the season at Allsvenskan.

The MFF’s weapon behind the 2-0
Ten minutes later, the home team expanded. Left-back Jonas Knudsen’s long serve is often worth it, even now. This time he met Kiese Thelin who with her leg raised in front of him put the ball to 2-0. The 28-year-old’s third goal in four days, as he became a two-goal scorer in a 5-0 win over Lokomotiva Zagreb in the Europa League third qualifying round.
– We would have needed a 2-0 verdict, he kicks quite high on the head of (Alexander) Faltsetas when he scores the goal. If we had succeeded, we could have stayed a bit longer, Häcken’s coach Andreas Alm tells Dplay.
– So far they have no chance to fast, I hope Häcken will do something about it. Because it’s too, too easy, says Dplay expert Alexander Axén during the halftime break.
New fixed situation
But even in the second half, when Kiese Thelin returned to being a two-goal scorer, MFF scored in a solid position. After a corner kick, the ball finished him off, after the first shot attempt he recovered it and rolled on his 11th goal of the season, meaning he is a league one split shooter.
Malmö FF 3-0 victory. Who now leads the Allsvenskan with nine points, with a match more played than Häcken and Elfsborg.
– It was an excellent performance for us. When opponents don’t create a single scoring opportunity, you do something right, says MFF coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.
– We are too strange from 16 meters. That worries us. For us, it’s about rebuilding. We are no longer the best defensive team in the series and we won’t be for the rest of the season. We need to rebuild to find something we can be better at. It is a great challenge. If we don’t, all the medals we fight for will fall from our hands. And it can go fast, says Häcken’s coach Andreas Alm, after the crush.
I think the gold runs
Did the golden train leave today?
– Yes, it is true, but then they all went well, says Häcken midfielder Erik Friberg and continues.
– We are nine points behind with a game less played. So they must slide correctly so they don’t win.
Is there anything to suggest they slip?
– No. They have been the best team this year. It takes a lot for a team to catch up on those points. We can only try to win those who remain and then we will see where we end up.
Can it be good for the other big teams if MFF enters the Europa League group stage and gets a lot of games this fall?
– They have such a large squad that I think it’s good for them to get into the group stage, so they can keep the whole squad.
