Recently in November, Helsingborgs IF congratulated Luton Shelton on his birthday on social media. The Jamaican played for Skåne from 2006 to 2007 before continuing his career at Sheffield United, and formed an attacking duo with Henrik Larsson. Among other things, Shelton was involved in leading HIF to the gold cup in 2006.
Luton Shelton has passed away at the age of 35. This is stated by his former clubs Sheffield and Vålerenga, and is reported in various British media.

“Sheffield United regrets the news from the Caribbean that our former forward Luton Shelton passed away, aged only 25,” the club wrote on Twitter.

Shelton was diagnosed with the 2018 ALS nerve disease, a year after he played his last game for Jamaican club Harbor View.
The former soccer star later did an interview with The Gleaner where he had difficulty speaking due to illness.
“Our lives revolve around him, because he needs it all,” said Shelton’s wife, Bobbette.
Shelton scored 35 goals in 75 appearances for Jamaica.
“I express my deepest condolences to Ms. Shelton, her children and the rest of her family. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time,” Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness wrote on Twitter.
