Henrik Lundqvist said he has a heart defect that prevents him from playing for the Washington Capitals.

Now the goalkeeper appreciates the support.

– It has been an emotional week for me and my family, writes Lundqvist on Twitter.

Three days have passed since Swedish NHL goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist gave the surprise message that he will not be able to play for his new club Washington Capital next season.

The veteran himself wrote on social networks that he has been diagnosed with a heart defect that prevents him from playing hockey.

Lundqvist hasn’t done any interviews in recent days, but is now at least writing a post on Twitter.

There he appreciates the support he has felt these days.

– It has been a very emotional week for me and my family. I just want to express my gratitude for all the support from the entire league and from people everywhere.

– Life is full of surprises and I am ready to face this. Attitude is everything! The 38-year-old writes.
