Lowest warning number since the crisis began | Gothenburg message

Last week, 1,849 people were notified of the termination, which is the lowest number since the second week of March, when the Crown began. Worst of all, more than 18,000 were notified in a single week, according to Statistics Sweden.

“A large number of companies have requested short-term vacations, which has softened the notifications,” says Annika Sundén, Head of Employment Analysis.

It appears to be almost completely alert in crisis industries, hotels and restaurants, and in transportation. Now the industry accounts for almost half of alerts.

Same rhythm

But there are no such moderate trends in unemployment.

– It is still a serious situation, unemployment continues to rise, says Sundén.

Last week, almost 13,600 new people registered as unemployed in the Employment Service, roughly the same rate of increase as before. Therefore, the number of unemployed, as a proportion of the labor force, increased from 8.1% at the end of April to 8.3% today. The authority’s own forecast points to eleven percent ahead this summer.

Above all, it is open unemployment that is increasing sharply. The Employment Service has not had the opportunity to capture the influx and offer courses or other measures.

In April alone, the unemployed increased by 71,000 to 245,000, compared to April last year.

There is a job

But after all, people still get jobs, 8,000 left the Employment Service last week after finding a job, albeit significantly less than normal. Care, groceries and storage are the professions to look for. And those jobs can accommodate many people who have lost their jobs in the service industry, says Annika Sundén.

Agriculture also screams for people and warns of swampy crops, but hope here still seems to be for seasonal workers abroad. Advertising through the Employment Service remains low, according to Annika Sundén, who urges farmers to advertise.
