Today’s manufacturers face new challenges. Consumer demands are changing significantly faster than before and product life cycles are getting shorter. In order to meet this, manufacturers’ material flows must become more agile, automated and digitized, as well as providing space for smarter use of robots and humans.

As one of the world’s leading players in material flow solutions, FlexLink offers intelligent and innovative flow applications that can handle new needs.

Manufacturers must tackle new challenges such as unpredictable forecasts and rapid behavior changes. We always strive to help brand owners increase efficiency and produce products smarter, faster and at lower cost, says Paolo Pusceddu, CSO of FlexLink.

Various benefits of agile production lines

For 40 years, FlexLink has developed its portfolio of material flow solutions for the manufacturing industry in industries such as food, dairy, pharmaceuticals and vehicles. It includes, among other things, transport systems and robotic solutions for everything from syringes, ampoules, beverages and food to industrial products such as ball bearings, engine parts and gearboxes.

– We see a great need for flexible and agile production lines that can be easily adapted to new needs. This means that different machines can be used in the production process on several different production lines, which means that you can tailor solutions with less equipment. This, in turn, leads to more equipment usage and overall greater efficiency, says Tommy Karlsson, Manager of the FlexLink Competence Center.

An adapted way of working

Today, industrial automation is a key factor in Industry 4.0 that takes place all over the world. Businesses must embrace digitization, among other things, to meet new market requirements.

– We adapt our way of working from the beginning based on this trend. FlexLink offers various services such as digital design tools for all types of projects and digital acceptance testing. In addition to this, we also see new challenges regarding remote services where IT security is increasingly important. Our remote services meet these requirements and we see increased demand in times of travel restrictions. We work, for example, with pharmaceutical clients in the US, where we monitor performance in real time and support remote troubleshooting from Sweden, says Emilien Saindon General Manager FlexLink Nordic.

Global presence and local expertise

Another major development in Industry 4.0 is collaborative robots that basically work in all kinds of manufacturing industries. The robots work integrated with the operators and their main objective is to create greater efficiency and value creation in production. For manufacturing that requires flexibility and equipment that has little impact on the work environment, collaborative robots are an important component.

However, robots and remote support cannot replace decades of local expertise. For this reason, FlexLink has developed its organization with the goal of being close to customers through a global presence, as well as distribution centers and manufacturing facilities in more than 60 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.
