Long queue for covid test inside Emporia – security guards announced a security stop

Private care provider Min Doktor offered rapid tests for COVID-19 at their reception in Emporia during the noon sale. The line became long and the security representative temporarily interrupted the work of the security guards when it was considered that there was a risk to his life and health.

According to several witnesses, on the second day a large crowd formed in front of the My Doctor reception in Emporia. The queue was made up of people waiting to do a rapid test for COVID-19.

The incident led to the security representative of the security guards announcing a stop of the security representative, which means that the work is stopped when the security representative assesses that there is a risk to the life and health of the personnel. It’s unclear how long the protective stop lasted, but it ended shortly after 3 p.m.

– The information I have received is that there was a queue inside a doctor’s office and that it was evidence of covid. Then we got a security stop from the security representative to not act in the queue, says Johan Räikkönen, press officer for Avarn Security, responsible for monitoring Emporia.

The My Doctor clinic in Emporia performs rapid tests and antibody tests for COVID-19. They also offer PCR tests and travel certificates on certain days and times, but not on the second day.

Petronella Warg is Communications Manager for My Doctor and emphasizes that only people who do not have symptoms of infection are tested.

– Apparently there were many queues with us, but not as much as you thought. But then we have people on duty who were called in to disperse and calm down and what I heard worked well. What we do is make sure for tomorrow with more hosts and nurses to catch up with more, he says, continuing:

– We have had antibody tests since June and it has worked excellently. So we didn’t expect there to be so many people and resurrection.

Is it reasonable to offer quick tests in the middle of a mall during the noon sale?

– We think so. We have SMS queues, we have clear marks and we are clear that everyone must follow the recommendations of the Swedish Public Health Agency. So it is up to the visitors to keep their own distance.

What do you urge people to do while they wait for test results?

– To go home. You get the test answer in your application, you don’t have to stay and wait.

Did you get a positive test result?

– I do not have statistics available, so unfortunately I cannot answer that.

The incident prompted Emporia to hastily put up signs at entrances stating that COVID testing is not taking place inside the mall, although this is not true.

– Then I have to check what tests (my doctor) do, so I may not understand it, says Johan Forsgren, manager of the Emporia center.

He himself did not perceive that a queue had formed outside of My Doctor, but that people had queued for the testing clinic outside of Emporia.

– I have perceived it as people coming in and asking where they could be tested, and that was what worried the guards, he says.
