Luleå Hockey took a long-awaited victory when Örebro Hockey visited on Thursday, but it was a long way off. The visitors tied with 52 seconds left in the third period before Jack Connolly finally decided in overtime at 4-3.
Luleå Hockey came into the game with three losses in a row in the bag, but gave positive feedback early in the match and the first period was also the best the men’s team has achieved in a long time. Above all, the entire team showed aggressiveness and determination to win each close match and with that they also connected the grip in the match.
Petter Emanuelsson opened the scoring at 03:43 via a well placed direct shot and just under three minutes to go, Juhani Tyrväinen increased the lead to 2-0 in a royal pattern attack. Oscar Engsund hit an opening pass to Isac Brännström who changed position and handed the puck to Einar Emanuelsson in the middle who in turn passed the pulley directly to the aforementioned Tyrväinen who scored and scored his second goal of the season.
Norrbotten got off to a dream start in the second period with a new goal from Tyrväinen already after fifty seconds. However, Örebro replied within a minute and the guests slowly took over the image of the match. A further reduction fell just at the beginning of the third period and the draw came, quite uncomfortably, 52 seconds from the end, also in games four against five.
The game went into extra time and there Jack Connolly took a step forward with his fourth goal of the season which meant a 4-3 and two points for Luleå Hockey.
