Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) is following the US presidential elections with great interest, he writes in a press release. But so far he is not ready to comment on the result as it is unclear.

“The vote count is still in progress, so I will wait with comments on the result,” the prime minister said.

It also says in the press release that Sweden has a good and close relationship with the United States and that “the government looks forward to cooperating with the future US administration.”

Foreign Minister Ann Linde (s) also commented on Wednesday morning’s US elections, but did so at a digital press conference.

– Despite the covid pandemic, the implementation of the elections seems to have gone well, he said.

He also said that, as expected, there is no final result yet.

“Now we have to put up with it and refrain from speculating and let the American electoral system work,” Ann Linde said.

He also said that Sweden has a good and long-lasting relationship with the United States.

– We have common interests in a wide range of areas and we work closely together, regardless of who is in the White House, says Ann Linde.
