Just a few weeks ago, Stefan Löfven said in his summer speech that it is time to expand welfare, not to cut taxes for the already well-off.
But in an interview with Express About the recent budget negotiations, it sounds different.
– In a crisis like the one we are going through now, where restaurants, cafes and shops are having a very bad time, it is not bad if we can make sure that ordinary people have a little more money in their wallets and can participate and consume. People want to be a part of getting Sweden out of the crisis and then you too should be able to have that opportunity, Löfven tells the newspaper.
“A historical and powerful package”
On Tuesday, Dagens Industri arrived with information that the budget negotiations were completed and that it contains significant tax cuts. But Löfven does not want to state in the interview with Expressen what reforms are likely to be implemented.
– We will see when the budget is presented what the proportions are. It will be a powerful package, a historical package and there will be visible resources for what we want in wellness, but also the opportunity for many to consume. Ordinary people should be able to consume so that everyone can participate and get us out of the crisis.
