Local General Councils are now being introduced in Kronoberg County

The decision to introduce local general councils was made in consultation with the Kronoberg region and the Kronoberg county administrative council on Thursday, due to the further spread of COVID-19 in the county.

The neighboring regions of Jönköping, Skåne and Halland have already introduced local general councils, and now Kronoberg is doing the same as well.

To date, eight regions of the country have been covered by special local councils to limit the spread of the infection. But more have wanted to follow the same path, including Kronoberg.

In an interview in Dagens Nyheter on Thursday morning, the chairman of the regional board in Kronoberg, Mikael Johansson (M), said the following:

– I would have liked to have seen local general advice here. If you look at the infection, we have been one of the regions with the highest spread recently. Thus, we have that contact with the Public Health Agency and we indicate our figures. Then it is up to them to decide which regions, in what order, how many per week and everything they have to decide.

And his wish was now quickly heard in prayer. Today at 3.30 pm there will be a press conference on the new guidelines.

In the past 24 hours, three new deaths and 108 new infections have been found in the county in the Kronoberg Region Daily Statistics Summary.
