The decision applies between October 19, 2020 and January 18, 2021, the police write on their website.

The police mainly want to monitor “the facilities of the center where, among other things, drug trafficking takes place.”

Used as a complement

– The surveillance camera is a complement to the work we already do at Skäggetorp and Ryd. We already have our eyes there in the form of fixed surveillance cameras, body cameras and now we also have drones that we can use and get an overview of the area, says Ann-Christine Rehnström, area manager of the local Linköping police.

Furthermore, he says that now there is the right competence for the task.

– Now in the local Linköping area we have trained drone pilots who can use this technical add-on for our business.

“Disruption, violent crimes and drug trafficking”

The technology can be used in various types of law enforcement.

– It’s about everything from blue light sabotage, disorderly conduct, violent crime and drug trafficking, says Ann-Christine Rehnström.
