Stefan Skoog was in Gothia Towers to spend a full evening with his friends and experience the pop group Alcazar who were in the middle of their farewell tour in December 2018.
At the end of the concert, the audience climbed onto chairs and tables to pay tribute to the band and have them perform additional numbers.
Stefan Skoog stepped back into the room to get a better view and sat on a railing in front of a thick curtain that covered him completely because he thought it was a wall behind.
When he leaned back, he fell directly to a concrete floor, about five meters.
– I have never witnessed a tragedy like this, not when I have been in a concert or myself on stage. It happened at the end of the show and we didn’t find out until after the show, says Lina Hedlund, who read about Stefan Skoog in GT on Thursday.
“I was completely devastated”
The article brought memories to life and she says she immediately looked it up on Facebook and wrote a message.
– I’ve thought about this from time to time. It was a terrible event. It’s incredibly sad, I wanted to apologize and send my love and thoughts. God, I was completely devastated when I read about him being so badly hurt, says Lina Hedlund.
Stefan Skoog has said that he fell on his back and does not remember anything until he woke up in the intensive care unit at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
He had broken his spine in two places, injuries that force him to be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
– My life has been shattered, says Stefan Skoog, who previously played golf, rode his bike and was a boater.
He says that since the accident he has not heard from those responsible who were at the scene that night.
When he received the message from Lina Hedlund, he was surprised and happy.
“The only thing I heard from someone”
– It felt really good to get it. That he was one of those who was there who feels compassion, that there are people who have been there who reacted and thought of me after the incident, he says.
– He wrote that he thought a lot about me and regretted what had happened. She wished me and my family the best despite the accident.
Lina Hedlund claims that she remembers exactly where the accident occurred, received the information after the concert, and feels horrible to think about what happened to Stefan Skoog.
– It just spins when we talk about it. I am shaking everywhere. I was going to have a nice and wonderful evening, and that’s how it ended. It’s horrible, she says.
Those responsible blame each other
GT has reported on how the companies responsible for the event blame each other. The Swedish Fair and Gothia Towers believe that the organizer Krall Entertainment is fully responsible for the audience according to the agreement concluded.
Krall Entertainment believes that the company complied with all rules and regulations and believes that the Swedish Fair is responsible for the curtain that hid there was a high drop behind the railing to the waist.
– The great players must show that they take their responsibility, but they despise it. It has been completely silenced, says Stefan Skoog.
