Liam, who was a victim, still remembers all the details but says he managed to move on without feeling hatred.

– My friends really did their best to make me feel good, he says on Aftonbladet’s new crime podcast, a year after the high-profile humiliation robbery.

Liam, 18, was coming home from extra work on a Sunday night in December last year.

He got off the subway in Björkhagen, south of Stockholm, and at the same time watched a football game on his mobile. A mobile phone that two 16-year-olds also saw and that one of them wanted.

The two ran after Liam, started hitting and threatening him, forced his mobile phone but they also wanted money.

The process dragged on and ended with them kicking and hitting Liam. And they urinated on him while filming.

“He was embarrassed”

Liam now says, a year later, that at first he felt ashamed and guilty himself. But he chose to be open from the beginning with what happened to process the trauma.

He told the adults at school and his friends. They all stood up and supported in a way that allowed him to gradually get up, return, and manage to carry the student.

An important step along the way was also the trial in which the two young perpetrators were convicted. They were 16 years old and received youth care.

Has changed

Liam says he probably had scars for life, but has processed the incident so he can move on. Without feeling any hatred for the perpetrators.

But the event has left its mark and changed it.

– You are more attentive, more careful, you think about it, you are on guard. I never wear headphones in my ears late at night, I never look at the phone when I go anywhere.

– But I’ve gotten closer to my feelings. It’s easier for me to be happy about things, but also easier to become aggressive or sad.

The first episode of Aftonbladet’s new crime podcast highlights humiliation robberies. There’s the whole interview with Liam, who’s actually called something else.
