The spread of the infection has increased in various places in Sweden and in Europe in recent weeks.

Yesterday, the Uppsala Region warned that the intensive care unit of the University Hospital is full, and there has also been an increase in those needing hospital care in the Stockholm Region.

Now, the Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren (S) warns that Sweden may be entering a worse stage.

– Of course, we fear that we are going in a direction like in other countries in Europe, where we have an increasing spread of the infection that also affects intensive care and medical care in general, he says at SVT’s Weekend Studio on Saturday.

“Young people who feel immortal”

She says the government’s announcement that people over 70 should have the same recommendations as everyone else sends an important message to younger people as well.

– That those of us who are not over 70 years old realize that we really have to take new steps, and make sure that we have the strength to follow the recommendations that will be applied for a long time, he says and continues:

– It is not right that we, on the one hand, make decisions about stricter restrictions for certain areas, that people in the risk group feel that they are too limited. And at the same time, there are groups, and it is mainly many younger people who feel immortal, and that the restrictions may not cover as much, but they do, says Hallengren in Helgstudion.

She believes that more decisions about stricter restrictions can be made locally in the future. For example, Skåne has pointed out that they may not allow public events with more than 300 people, which the government has opened up to.
